Use of Prenatal Vitamin and Mineral Supplements

Many physicians prescribe some formulated medicines especially made for pregnant women. Some of these are sold directly but others are only given on the basis of prescription, as they may be harmful for other people like older ones. These supplements are easy to suggest by the physicians because they consider it difficult to discuss diet changes. Also the pregnant women do not want to change their diets and simply demand this kind of treatment. Some critical nutrition is present in these supplements like iron, zinc and folate and many other supplements. These supplements are also beneficial for women who are poor, weak, teenagers, and women with inappropriate diets and who suffer from various fetuses. There is no proof that any problem is caused during the period of pregnancy due to these supplements. The amount of Vitamin A should not exceed 3000 RAE per day because the toxicity of Vitamin A is purely connected with defects in birth in the first trimester of birth.

Pregnant Vegetarians
The practice of  lactovoo vegetarianism or lactovovegetarianism reduce the problems of nutrition needs during pregnancy period. The non-vegetarian women should fulfill the needs of iron, zinc, folate and calcium. And therefore, non-vegetarian women should take into consideration the use of proteins like Vitamin D, Vitamin B-6 iron, calcium and zinc, and supplement of B-12 Vitamin. Their diet should include grains, beans, nuts and seeds that may provide extra amount of nutrition that is required during this period. It is suggested to make a use of iron and calcium supplements of plant foods but they should be absorbed separately. Prenatal supplements should be taken in sufficient amount in order to accomplish the needs of iron but they contain a little amount of calcium i.e. 200 milligram of calcium. They can also do the work to provide Vitamin D if there is a little sun light in the day.
