Colostrum & Mature Milk

During the period of pregnancy occurs to produce clear secretions, colostrum which lasts about twenty-four hours after delivery. This secretion is rich in antibodies and therefore should be given to newborns to increase the body's defenses within the first hour of life.

Colostrum
It is the milk that comes out of the breasts after the birth. Its coloration is yellowish and thick and it works like a natural vaccine that protects against dangerous diseases. It is easy to digest and has a high concentration of nutrients that protect the baby. Colostrum cleans the baby's intestines and helps eliminate the meconium which is a greenish substance that gets accumulated in the intestine until it is born. Meconium is the baby's first stool.

Mature milk
As the first out of the breast is colostrum, the milk will start to really go down two or three days after birth. It has watery, but does not mean that milk is weak. Mothers need to know that there is weak milk, which there is little milk. Breast milk is composed of a large amount of water to quench the thirst of the baby, so it is not necessary to offer water or tea to the baby only breast milk.
Breast milk is rich in protein, vitamins and nutrients that all are essential for the baby to develop and grow healthily.

At the beginning of milk feeding appears to look clear and watery, but as the course it's getting thick and creamy appears at the end, it contains more fat. It is necessary to offer the first breast until the baby is completely emptied and then offer the other, if the baby does not suck all of the other breast milk is because it is already satisfied, but if the breast is still necessary to make a full hand milking .

The baby more easily digest breast milk, so he feels hungry more times a day, since cow's milk to be more fat takes longer to digest.
