Is There a Reliable ADHD Test? - Diagnostic Methods

It is very important to know that there is no specific diagnostic test that will present some positive or negative result for ADHD. Some people believe about availability of some ADHD test but this is not true.

First thing, it is a neurological disorder linked with heredity. Statistics say that both boys and girls develop this disorder evenly. Before it was believed that only a healthy number of boy grow this disorder. The rate  in adults is 4.5%. In USA, 10% of the population is being affected by ADHD, note before this research it was believed that only 5% of the population grow this disorder.

It is rightly think that hyperactivity and impulsive conduct might be a normal infancy problem. But the question is, how many of us are multi-taskers and be able to disrupt the discussions. Therefore, the doctor will be interested in knowing the period of this disorder, for example he will be keen to know if this has happened before the age of 7 and after how much time it lasted. Moreover, the doctor can determine by some questions how much damaging these disorders are for the growth of at least two periods of child’s life; the community, the school classroom, and school playground.

Questions are normally used to know the patient’s condition precisely. The doctor may also ask questions about the attention deficit-disorder as doing homework and getting distraction. With hyperactivity, question will be, how much embarrassing it becomes. And how many times the child comes out with answers and break in on discussions.

The doctor may also have questions for the parents to tell about any history of ADHD in the family or about any hectic circumstances at home. Once all the information is congregated for the ADHD test, then its  comparison with normal children draws out a accurate diagnosis.
